Turning A2P Messaging Strategy into Operator Revenue
Nexumtech was pleased to welcome Mr. Kliton Proko, Director of Interconnection and Roaming at OneAlbania, to our Executive Roundtable during GSMA WAS#22 in Rome, hosted jointly with Mitto. During the discussion, Kliton shared his perspective on the importance of industry collaboration and staying informed about emerging risks within the A2P messaging ecosystem.
Mr. Proko emphasised that A2P messaging is often viewed as a mature and stable line of business, despite its complex history and ongoing evolution. He noted that open discussions between mobile network operators, aggregators, and service providers play a vital role in understanding how the ecosystem is changing and how the business may evolve moving forward.
A key learning from the roundtable centered on Artificially Inflated Traffic (AIT). Kliton explained that while AIT may not currently impact every market, it often remains invisible to operators until it becomes a direct issue. Being informed about these risks early, he noted, allows operators to remain vigilant and better prepared should their market become a target in the future.
Looking ahead, Kliton identified two clear actions following the roundtable discussions. The first was the importance of independent testing, which he described as a valuable tool for gaining objective insight and supporting more effective problem-solving. The second was continued cooperation with aggregators, such as Mitto, to drive the A2P business forward in a way that delivers value for all parties involved.
The discussion also reinforced the importance of shared learning across the industry. Kliton encouraged operators to actively participate in forums like these, noting that challenges faced by one operator today may become relevant to others tomorrow, making collaboration and preparedness essential.
